Klappertaart Cake


Klappertaart a culinary cross between Manado and the Netherlands. Since the colonial era it has become a kind of pastry specialties to ethnic Minahasa, North Sulawesi. It contained a soft custard with pieces of young coconut and rum mixture. Make a tempting aroma. Additionally there is chocolate pudding and bludder tape.

In Indonesia, this cake is a recipe handed down and heritage and the Netherlands are still very popular. Very commonly found in restorant Klappertaart offering Manado cuisine.  Usually encountered in the type Klappertaart market is kind of baked. Klappertaart was made from dough of flour, cornstarch, butter, eggs and coconut meat.

In addition there are various Klappertaart, such as cheese flavor, lemon, classic, and various toppings according to taste. Klappertaart is an Indonesian – Dutch desert (literally, Coconut Tart ) or in Indonesia we called it Tart Kelapa Muda. It tastes delicious and yummy!

Here some Ingredients, if you want to try

500 gr young coconut meat

7 egg yolks

3 egg whites

100 gr sugar

150 gr all purpose flour

300 ml evaporated milk

1/2 tsp vanilla essence

150 gr walnuts (thinly sliced)

 for topping

4 egg whites

1 tbsp sugar

25 gr raisins

50 gr walnuts (thinly sliced)



* Preheat oven to 180’C

* Buttered and floured the cake pan

* Mix the egg yolks, egg whites and sugar with electric mixer until fluffy

* Add-in flour, evaporated milk, vanilla, walnuts and the young coconut meat, stir it well

* Pour the mixture into the cake pan

* Baked for 20 minutes or until its harden

* Remove the cake pan from the oven

* Stir mixture with a wooden spoon, blend and set aside

for topping

* Beat egg whites and sugar until stiff and shiny

* Pour the mixture into the cake pan

* Put raisins and walnuts as topping

* And baked again for 15 minutes or until they turn golden
